A family migration [manuscript] ca. 1952.

The story of the Buck family whose earliest member Thomas Buck (Bucke) arrived in Virginia in 1635. The family intermarried with the Calmes, Bayly, Blackmore, and Richardson families and migrated westward from the Valley of Virginia to California and southward to Alabama. Of interest is a brief narrative of R.M. Blakemore in the California gold rush. There are several mentions of family slaves in the narrative, including Maria Cooper and Henry Banks a slave who escaped in 1853 with stolen money and a horse, eluded the slave catchers from the firm of Kinsel and Doyle and eventually made his way to California and Canada.
